Principal Researcher

Javier Botto received his Ph.D from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) in 1998, after carrying out his thesis at the Agricultural Plant Physiology and Ecology Research Institute (IFEVA) in the laboratory of Dr. Rodolfo Sanchez. He performed postdoctoral studies with Prof. Harry Smith at Leicester University, U.K. He became as Assistant Researcher of the National Research Council of Argentina (CONICET) in 2001. He is group leader of “Plasticity in Plant Development” lab at IFEVA. His laboratory is interested to elucidate the molecular basis of adaptive plasticity to understand how plants integrate environmental information into development. His laboratory combines molecular genetics, genome-wide expression, biochemistry, pharmacological and physiological studies in seeds and plants of Arabidopsis thaliana, potato and rapeseed crops. He is Principal Researcher (CONICET) and Associate Professor of Plant Physiology at the Agronomy Faculty of the University of Buenos Aires. He published more than 50 papers published, technical reports and reviewers of his area of expertise. He was adviser of five Ph.D students, one Magister and eleven graduate students.

Principal Research Scientist (IFEVA-CONICET).
Full Associate Professor (Plant Physiology, Agronomy Faculty, University of Buenos Aires).
